Innovative Education Management was founded to help families innovate in the way they educate their children. We believe parents should have a choice in when, how, and where their children are educated. That is why we manage three personalized learning independent study charter school across California. As public charter schools, we are FREE to all California students who live within one of the counties we serve. To find out which counties we operate in go to our main webpage at https://ieminc.org.
Because our credentialed teaching staff works closely with parents and students to select an individualized educational plan, students are able to #choosetothrive by finding the right curriculum and activities to learn. Yet, no matter the subject matter, the foundation of all success in school and life is literacy. Knowing how to read and write effectively are lifelong skills we believe every student needs to acquire to be able to #choosetothrive in the 21st century.
Information is Skyrocketing
According to SINTEF, the largest research organization in Scandinavia, 90% of the world’s data has been generated over the last few years. To put it another way, Eric Schmidt, the then CEO of Google, told a conference in 2010 that every two days the world is now creating as much information as was created from the dawn of man through 2003. Let that sink in. Technology and user generated content account for this astronomical rise in data and information. Can you imagine navigating the world today without being a proficient reader or writer?
To support our families with literacy, we have launched the Writing Initiative to organize and present a collection of effective writing curriculum for students, and then provide direct parent trainings on how to best teach that curriculum at home. By offering choices rather than a one size fits all writing program, our students can #choosetothrive through the most appropriate program for them.
Steps in our Writing Process
After enrolling in one of our schools to participate in the writing initiative we’ve developed a few easy steps.
First, enrolled families should explore our popular writing programs ay attending free product demonstrations.
Second a family should select and purchase one of the featured writing programs using their instructional funding which the school provides to every enrolled student.
Third, after the specific writing program has been selected, we’ve created and are hosting “How to Write” training webinars to train parents how to teach writing to their children using the particular program they chose. It’s a personalized training for parents so they can personalize the chosen curriculum for their children!
Adopting a school-wide writing program like so many schools do is certainly one way to teach writing but by selecting a single program, some students will be left behind. IEM schools allow all students to #choosetothrive by following an individualized curriculum.
